Austria impressively announces its high ambitions for the Tournament. The Austrian eagles take the first five places in the Oberstdorf qualification, but the Swiss keep up well.

Gregor Deschwanden in 7th place (131 m) and Killian Peier in tenth place (132 m) solved their tasks well and very well respectively. Deschwanden, now a consistent top ten jumper, also delivered this time. But neither he nor the World Cup leader Pius Paschke from Germany, who is ranked ahead of him, were able to break through the Austrian phalanx, led by Daniel Tschofenig.

The Austrians have now been waiting ten years for a winner at the Four Hills Tournament. Stefan Kraft won in 2015 and has been at the top almost without interruption ever since. He came second on Saturday.

Peier's 10th place was a pleasant surprise. The man from Vaud confirmed his upward trend of recent weeks. He finished directly ahead of Ryoyu Kobayashi. The tour specialist from Japan, who took home the Golden Eagle in 2019, 2022 and 2024, is returning to form just in time for the opening competition on Sunday. However, the gap to the top is still considerable.

While Felix Trunz made the cut in 47th place, Simon Ammann was eliminated early in 51st place. In Oberstdorf of all places, where he completed his first World Cup competition 27 years ago and finished 15th to secure his ticket for the 1998 Nagano Olympics, the Toggenburg native will now have to sit back and watch.
