The 29-year-old para-cyclist came out on top in a tactically strong race over 10 kilometers in a field of six.

"I'm speechless, I've never done that before. I felt that the confidence from the successful road season also helped me a lot in the track races," said the Swiss world champion shortly before the award ceremony in the Olympic velodrome in Rio.

Behind Flurina Rigling, Maike Hausberger from Germany came second, with bronze going to the world time trial champion, Sabrina Custódia da Silva from Brazil. The same trio had already finished on the podium in the 1-kilometer time trial on Thursday.
