Challenge League Aarau beat Thun in the top match and are now just one point behind the leaders

Aarau win the top-of-the-table clash against leaders Thun 1-0 at home in the 22nd round of the Challenge League and are now just one point behind the Bernese Oberland side.

The winning goal was scored by David Acquah in first-half stoppage time with a header from close range. Although the visitors had more shots, they were only able to carve out one really good chance.

Aarau celebrated their sixth win in a row. Coach Brunello Iacopetta's team were in last place after six rounds, nine points behind Thun at the time. Aarau can now dream of promotion to the Super League again. The visitors, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat of the new year after three wins.

No goals were scored in the other two games on Friday between Neuchâtel Xamax and Vaduz and Schaffhausen and Etoile Carouge.
