Alberto Gilardino is no longer coach at Pisa. The Serie A club, which is second last in the table, announced the departure of the 43-year-old one day after the 3-1 home defeat against Sassuolo.
It remains to be seen who will succeed the 2006 world champion.
With Michel Aebischer, the currently injured Daniel Denoon and new winter signing Filip Stojilkovic, Pisa have three Swiss players under contract.
