Chelsea FC inflicted a clear defeat on FC Barcelona on the fifth matchday of the current Champions League season. The Catalans lost 3-0 in London.

Chelsea FC inflicted a heavy defeat on FC Barcelona on matchday five of the current Champions League season. Coach Hansi Flick's team lost 0:3 (0:1) in London.

In a strong first half, Chelsea were initially unlucky to have two goals from Enzo Fernandez disallowed. The Londoners then took the lead with a slapstick own goal from Jules Koundé (27), who tunnelled a teammate just before the line during a mix-up in his own penalty area. Shortly before the break, Barcelona also lost defender Ronald Araújo after a yellow card (44').

It continued in the same vein after the break. After another disallowed Chelsea goal, Estevao (55) and Liam Delap (73) scored the other goals that counted for the Londoners. Barcelona had no chance apart from a good opportunity for Ferran Torres in the early stages.

Chelsea now move up to fifth place with ten points and have a good chance of finishing in the top eight and progressing directly to the round of 16. Barcelona, on the other hand, remain in mid-table with seven points.
