- Arsenal are getting ever closer to winning their first English Premier League title in 22 years.
- On Monday, the Gunners celebrated a lackluster 1-0 home win over relegated Burnley thanks to Kai Havertz's 37th-minute goal and extended their lead over first-placed Manchester City to five points for the time being.
- The Citizens are therefore under pressure to win at sixth-placed Bournemouth on Tuesday at the end of round 37. The final round takes place on Sunday.
German international Kai Havertz has opened the door to the Premier League title for Arsenal FC. The striker scored the winning goal in the Londoners' 1-0 win at home against Burnley FC on the penultimate matchday. However, the 26-year-old was also lucky not to be sent off in the second half following a serious foul.
The home win puts Arsenal under pressure from rivals Manchester City. The Sky Blues can add to their tally against Bournemouth on Tuesday, but need a win to prevent the Gunners from clinching the title early. The final matchday is on Sunday. Arsenal will then face Crystal Palace away and Manchester City will play Aston Villa at home.
Havertz gets away with a yellow card
Havertz gave coach Mikel Arteta's side a deserved lead in the 37th minute with a header from a corner kick. In the second half, the German attacker hit Burnley's Lesley Ugochukwu on the calf with an open sole (67'). Despite a video review, Havertz got away with a yellow card. He was substituted a few minutes later.
It would be Arsenal FC's first Premier League triumph in 22 years. The Londoners will also face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on May 30. The Gunners have never won the title in the premier league before.
