FC Bayern are not in gala form ahead of the important away games in Glasgow and Leverkusen. The Munich team struggled to victory against Bremen, who were short of substitutes.

FC Bayern Munich have extended their lead over defending champions Bayer Leverkusen to nine points, at least for one night. The record champions won 3:0 (0:0) against Werder Bremen, but were unable to fully convince at the start of the crucial weeks with important matches in the Champions League and the Bundesliga.

In front of 75,000 spectators at the Allianz Arena, Harry Kane scored the opening goal for Bayern from the penalty spot in the 56th minute against Bremen, who were heavily short of substitutes. The ball had bounced off Bremen's Anthony Jung's hand. International Leroy Sané (82) made it 2-0 before Kane (90+7) made it 3-0 with his second penalty.

Leverkusen are now under pressure as a result of Munich's victory. The Werkself have to face VfL Wolfsburg this Saturday (3.30 pm). The top-of-the-table clash will then take place in the BayArena a week later.
