The team led by Swiss captain Remo Freuler won 1:0 at Atalanta Bergamo, with Argentinian Santiago Castro scoring in the 80th minute.
Bologna, who also played with Dan Ndoye in Bergamo, will meet the winner of the quarter-final between Juventus Turin and Empoli on February 26 in the semi-final.
