Brazilian professional footballer Oscar collapsed with heart problems during a performance test at his club FC São Paulo. The 34-year-old was treated by doctors on site and then taken to hospital for further examinations, his club announced. According to media reports, he collapsed during an exercise on the ergometer and briefly lost consciousness.
Shortly afterwards, Oscar thanked his fans for their support. "Thank you for the messages and prayers," the midfielder wrote on the Instagram platform. "Everything will be fine, God willing." Oscar has been repeatedly injured recently. He is still under contract with FC São Paulo until the end of 2027. There is now speculation in the Brazilian media that he could end his career prematurely.
After making his professional debut with his home club FC São Paulo, Oscar played in the Premier League for Chelsea FC from 2012 to 2016 before moving to China to join Shanghai Port FC. He played 48 games for the Brazilian national team and scored the Seleção's only goal in the 7-1 defeat to Germany at the 2014 World Cup.
