Two-time Champions League winners Chelsea FC have started the Club World Cup with a victory. The top club from the English Premier League beat Los Angeles FC 2:0, with the goals for the Londoners coming from Portugal's Pedro Neto (34th minute) and Argentina's Enzo Fernandez (79th).
In the poorly attended Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Los Angeles even missed several chances to equalize in the second half. The substitution of long-time Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud created more danger. The 38-year-old Frenchman had won the Champions League with the Londoners in 2021.
