Borussia Dortmund can breathe a sigh of relief after their 6-0 win over Union Berlin. Goalscorer Guirassy scored four goals in the first league win under new coach Niko Kovac.
The first win under new coach Niko Kovac has been achieved - and how! The 6:0 (2:0) win against favorite opponents Union Berlin gives crisis club Borussia Dortmund renewed hope of a successful comeback in the Bundesliga. Goal scorer Serhou Guirassy in particular got the frustration of recent weeks off his chest with a four-goal haul (40th minute/75th/80th/83rd). After two opening defeats in the league under Kovac, an own goal from Diogo Leite (25') had previously set up the first Bundesliga home win in three months. Maximilian Beier (89) put the finishing touches on the game.
Once again, Union proved to be a good opponent for BVB. In their sixth appearance in Dortmund, the Köpenickers again failed to pick up any points. Thanks to their ninth win of the season, the Westphalians moved up one place to tenth with 32 points. However, they are still five points off the European places. This gap could widen again on Sunday.
Kovac had declared a win against Union a must in view of the catastrophic table situation of last year's Champions League finalists and the current mood around the club. "We need a sense of achievement, we have to win the games and it's not about whether it's nice or not nice, that will come at some point, but now it's point by point by point," said Kovac.
