The Swiss international striker for Rennes scored his team's first two goals in a 3-0 home win against fifth-division side Les Sables Vendée in the 1/32 finals of the French Cup.

For Embolo, who joined Rennes from Monaco in the summer, it was goals number 5 and 6 in his 14th appearance for his new club. Rennes go into the new year in sixth place in the league.
