Thomas Tuchel has taken another step towards the World Cup with England. The German coach secured the Three Lions' second win in the second game of the World Cup qualifiers with a 3-0 victory over Latvia. Reece James (38th minute), Harry Kane (68th) and Eberechi Eze (76th) scored the goals for England, who top Group K. The European runners-up had won their first game under Tuchel last Friday with a 2-0 win over Albania.

England dominated the game from the outset, but initially struggled against the deep-lying outsiders. Latvia were almost permanently in defensive mode and allowed the hosts to come forward. However, Jude Bellingham and Co. hardly found a gap in the first half. So a free-kick had to be used, which James superbly curled into the goal to Tuchel's delight.

Kane also scores

Tuchel's team remained clearly superior after the break, even if the game remained tough due to the deep-lying Latvians. England searched and searched for the gap until Kane finally found it after being played in by Declan Rice and only had to slot home. Eze then made sure of the final score.
