Sion hit the crossbar FCZ holds on to its lead and returns to winning ways

After their first defeat during the week, FC Zurich return to winning ways. The Zurich side won their home game against newly promoted Sion 1:0.

The match-winner was summer signing Mariano Gomez, who scored the first goal for his new club. In the 17th minute, the 1.94-meter-tall Argentinian put FCZ ahead with a header from a free kick. The hosts then held on to their lead for a long time and, thanks to a strong defense, kept a clean sheet for the fourth time in the current championship.

Sion, on the other hand, were held to a 0-0 draw against Lugano the previous week. The Valais side fought off the threat of defeat, particularly in the closing stages. Baltazar Costa saw his 81st-minute shot bounce off the crossbar, as did Théo Bouchlarhem in the 94th minute.

While Sion failed to pick up any points away from home for the third time in a row, FCZ managed to respond to Tuesday's bitter 4-1 defeat against St. Gallen.
