FC Barcelona celebrate a clear 6:1 victory against Olympiakos Piraeus in the Champions League. Swiss referee Urs Schnyder was at the center of attention several times.
For around an hour, the visitors had hopes of snatching a point from the Olympic Stadium. Thanks to a penalty shortly after the break, the Greeks were only 2:1 down. However, Santiago Hezze was then shown a second yellow card, which meant that Piraeus were outnumbered from the 57th minute onwards - a harsh decision by referee Urs Schnyder.
The home team made the most of this opportunity and scored four goals in the space of eleven minutes to secure the final result. The Spanish champions thus showed a strong reaction to their 2-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round.
Pafos sees red after three minutes
Meanwhile, Kairat Almaty picked up their first point in the top flight. Nevertheless, the Kazakh team will probably only be partially satisfied with the 0-0 draw against Pafos. The visitors had João Correia sent off with a red card in the 4th minute. However, Almaty were initially unable to do much with their superior numbers, while the Cypriots repeatedly made pinpricks. In the end, both teams had their chances but were unsuccessful.
