Manchester United's deep crisis continues in the FA Cup. Because former Bundesliga goalkeeper Bernd Leno saved two of the home team's attempts in the penalty shoot-out, England's record champions were eliminated from the last 16 of the traditional cup competition against Fulham FC. The score was 1:1 after 120 minutes. Leno's brilliant performance then ensured the defending champions' elimination.

The 32-year-old former Leverkusen player saved the penalties from Victor Lindelöf and Joshua Zirkzee. All four of the Cottagers' starting shooters scored. In normal time, Calvin Bassey (45.+1 minute) had initially put the visitors ahead with a header, but United star Bruno Fernandes (71st) equalized for the Red Devils, who are only 14th in the league.

Quarter-final against Glasner's Crystal Palace

The Londoners continue their quarter-final campaign with a city clash against Crystal Palace. Coach Oliver Glasner's team had prevailed against second division side Millwall (3:1), but had to replace Jean-Philippe Mateta, who was brutally fouled early on. The striker later received 25 stitches for a laceration to his left ear.
