Germany struggled for a long time against Luxembourg, but could then count on Nick Woltemade, who scored a brace in the 49th and 69th minutes to secure a 2-0 away win.

Despite a poor performance, the German national team remain top of the table in the World Cup qualifiers. The team of national coach Julian Nagelsmann won 2:0 (1:0) at underdog Luxembourg, but revealed many weaknesses in the process. As in Northern Ireland, the match-winner was striker Nick Woltemade, who scored twice (49th and 69th minute).

However, the hosts, who had no points, created some good chances and came close to springing a surprise. With twelve points, the DFB side remain top of Group A and would qualify for the World Cup with a draw in their final match against Slovakia on Monday (8.45pm).
