Serhou Guirassy scores twice after a lull, Karim Adeyemi scores again - and BVB benefit from a controversial red card. The clear 4:0 win against Villarreal calms tempers in Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund's fans are at peace again for the time being. With plenty of luck, BVB took an important step towards the knockout phase of the Champions League after three consecutive matches without a win. After a weak first half, coach Niko Kovac's team won 4:0 (1:0) against FC Villarreal on Tuesday - although the score was too high against the visitors, who only played with ten players for a long time.
Serhou Guirassy ended his goal drought with a brace (45.+2/54.), and Karim Adeyemi scored again (58.) after the furor surrounding his penalty for illegal possession of weapons. Daniel Svensson scored Dortmund's fourth goal (90.+5). Villarreal's Juan Foyth was shown a red card for deliberate handball on the line - a harsh decision. BVB were also very lucky to score the first three goals against the third-placed team in the Primera División.
With ten points from five games, Dortmund increased their chances of progressing directly to the round of 16. Villarreal, on the other hand, remain winless in the top flight of European football.
