Harry Kane scores three times - and FC Bayern wins again. After three competitive games without a win, the Munich side are celebrating another three-pointer. The injury to an international player is a bitter pill to swallow.
After his hat-trick, Harry Kane grabbed the match ball as a trophy. Together with his jumping colleagues, England's national team captain celebrated as "German football champion" in front of the Bayern fan curve, beaming with joy.
Although only seven matchdays have been played, FC Bayern underlined their new-found strength under new coach Vincent Kompany against VfB Stuttgart. The final score in the southern summit was 4:0 (0:0) thanks to a brilliant second half from Bayern, including a Kane show. Kane showed that he is a "killer", said manager Max Eberl on Sky.
"Respect," said VfB striker Deniz Undav about Kane's performance, "he's let it all out on us now, a world-class striker, you can only take your hat off to him." For international Undav, the result was just as deserved: "Bayern were simply better in every respect today." Alexander Nübel had a similar view: "After the first goal we didn't stand a chance," said the Stuttgart goalkeeper.
Pavlovic has to come off injured
Kane was finally able to celebrate again after three club and one national team game. The 31-year-old followed up a well-placed shot from distance (57th minute) with a 2-0 goal from a scramble (61st minute). He followed this up with a stopper (80'). Kingsley Coman increased the final score (89'). For the record champions, who lost international Aleksandar Pavlovic to injury early on, the win was their first three points after three games without a victory.
The 111th Bundesliga South summit in front of 75,000 spectators in the Allianz Arena only really got going after the break. Thanks in particular to star man Kane, who celebrated the first flawless Bayern hat-trick since Robert Lewandowski's five-goal show against Wolfsburg in 2015.
