Bad news for Italy in the World Cup qualifiers: after a clear home win against Estonia, the Norwegians are probably out of reach.

Led by the brace from Erling Haaland and Alexander Sörloth, the Norwegian national football team is close to a direct ticket to next year's World Cup after beating Estonia at home. The 4:1 (0:0) in Oslo means that the unbeaten Scandinavians can still be caught by group runners-up Italy, but thanks to their six-point lead and significantly better goal difference (+29), this is probably only in theory.

Norway's match-winners at the Ullevaal Stadion were the two star strikers Alexander Sörloth (50th and 52nd minute) and Erling Haaland (56th and 62nd), whose goals made sure that the situation was clear. Robi Saarma (65) reduced the deficit for the underdogs, who had put up a strong fight until the break.

Italy did their duty against Moldova, but nothing more. Gianluca Mancini and Francesco Pio Esposito gave the "Squadra azzurra" a late victory with goals in the 88th and 93rd minutes. Italy now go into their final game against Norway with three points and a 17-goal deficit.
