1. FC Kaiserslautern took the lead in the Bundesliga 2 table for at least one night, but gave up an even better starting position. In front of 49,068 spectators at the Fritz Walter Stadium, FCK drew 1:1 (1:0) with SV Elversberg. Jan Elvedi played in Lautern's back three.
Lautern are now one point ahead of Hamburger SV, who play Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday evening. Elversberg remain sixth in the table, are just one point behind the relegation places and have now been unbeaten for six games.
FCK goalscorer Ragnar Ache put the home side ahead with a spectacular finish shortly before the break (41st minute). Elversberg's Muhammed Damar provided the deserved equalizer (75').
Hanslik hits the crossbar
Kaiserslautern were the better team in the first half in a match that was intense from the start and should have taken the lead after 19 minutes, but Daniel Hanslik only hit the crossbar. Elversberg were only dangerous in front of goal once, but FCK keeper Julian Krahl was able to keep out a shot from Lukas Petkov.
Elversberg goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof had a lot more to do, deflecting a Hanslik shot out for a corner in the 33rd minute. Eight minutes later, he was powerless against Ache.
Damar rewards Elversberg
After the restart, the visitors dominated the game and pressed for an equalizer. Krahl saved against Fisnik Asllani (63'), but his save against Petkov, who appeared alone in front of him, was even better four minutes later.
After an inconsistency in the FCK backline, it was Damar who rewarded Elversberg for their second-half performance with the points.
