YB conquerors Aston Villa inflict Bayern Munich's first defeat of the season with a 1-0 home win in the 2nd round of the Champions League. The Madrid clubs also lose away from home.

Bayern had more of the play and more chances against the English side, whose tactics were cleverly set up by coach Unai Emery, but Villa's attack around striker Ollie Watkins repeatedly put the German backline in trouble with quick counter-attacks. The cheeky winning goal by Joker Jhon Duran, who lobbed Manuel Neuer, who had moved too far out of goal, from long range in the 79th minute, therefore came as little surprise.

Even the substitution of Jamal Musiala for the second half, who was suffering from a slight injury, did not help the visitors in Birmingham, who until the 1-1 draw against Leverkusen last weekend had been highly dangerous going forward. The 9:2 defeat against Dinamo Zagreb at the start was followed by the first clean sheet.
