Temporarily at the top Kylian Mbappé leads Real Madrid to victory against Villarreal with a brace

Kylian Mbappé scores twice for the Whites in just a few minutes. For one night at least, Real take the lead in the table. FC Barcelona can strike back in the top match on Sunday.

Thanks to star striker Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid have taken over at the top of the LaLiga table, at least temporarily. The 26-year-old Mbappé (17th and 23rd minute) scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season for the Spanish record champions in a 2-1 win at Villarreal, after Juan Foyth (7th) had given the hosts an early lead.

Real (60 points) are now three points ahead of FC Barcelona (57) in the table, although they have played two games more. The Catalans, coached by Hansi Flick, face third-placed Atlético Madrid (56) on Sunday evening (9pm on blue Sport).
