Six-time Swiss international Leonidas Stergiou is moving within the Bundesliga from VfB Stuttgart to Heidenheim.

The 23-year-old defender will be loaned out for six months, as the two clubs announced.

Stergiou has played 38 games for Stuttgart in the last two and a half years. However, the former St. Gallen man has only made two brief appearances since last May, partly due to injuries.

At bottom club Heideheim, Stergiou strengthens the statistically weakest defense in the league (38 goals conceded). His contract with Stuttgart is valid until summer 2028.
