  • Johan Manzambi is impressing at Freiburg with consistently strong performances.
  • With his versatility, the 20-year-old Swiss is attracting interest from top clubs such as Leverkusen and Napoli.

Johan Manzambi is also showing his goal-scoring ability in the Bundesliga. Although Freiburg lost 2-1 away to Heidenheim in their last league game, the Swiss international gave the visitors the lead with a deflected shot. The 20-year-old scored for the third game in a row in the Bundesliga. Manzambi had previously gone eight league games without scoring (he missed two due to a suspension).

Such a goal drought is unheard of for him in the national team. Although Manzambi has often only come on from the bench as a substitute, he has already scored three goals in eight international matches. Nati coach Murat Yakin raves: "He has an incredible urge to score."

While Manzambi is used as a winger under Yakin, he usually plays a more central role in Freiburg. With his strong performances, the cheerful man from Geneva is also attracting interest from bigger clubs.

Manzambi's contract runs until 2030

According to "Bild", several Bundesliga clubs are said to be interested, above all Leverkusen. Bayer are in the process of rebuilding after the XXL shake-up in the summer - which also saw the departure of fellow national team player Granit Xhaka.

According to the German tabloid newspaper, Italian champions Napoli have also been keeping an eye on the versatile giant. Manzambi's contract in Breisgau runs until 2030, so a club would have to throw a lot of money at one of Switzerland's biggest hopes for the future.

However, the courted Manzambi should remain with Freiburg at least until the end of the season.
