Despite the Xhaka block Leverkusen beat Bochum and increase the pressure on Bayern

Bayer Leverkusen beat Bochum 3-1 at home to open the 27th Bundesliga round and cut the gap on leaders Bayern Munich to three points, at least temporarily.

Leverkusen secured the win after the break with goals from Victor Boniface and Amine Adli after Bochum had drawn 1-1 in the 26th minute. Granit Xhaka also played an involuntary part in this. The Swiss playmaker, who became a father for the third time eleven days ago, opened the scoring with a failed header back towards goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky.

Bayern Munich, who lost to Bochum three weeks ago, are in action at home against St. Pauli on Saturday.
