Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami team have to play a Champions Cup match in freezing temperatures. The coach finds it "inhumane".

Lionel Messi remains freezing cold even in the American winter. In temperatures of minus 16 degrees Celsius, the Argentinian soccer world champion and his team Inter Miami won 1:0 at Sporting Kansas City in the first round of the Concacaf Champions Cup. The competition is the North and Central American version of the Champions League.

According to the weather report, the cold felt like minus 24 degrees due to the strong wind - and of course Messi scored the only goal in the 56th minute.

"Inhuman" conditions

"I'm very proud because I think it's impossible to play in these conditions. It's inhuman," said Miami coach Javier Mascherano, with whom Messi played for years in the Argentinian national team.

The second leg will take place next Wednesday in Florida - in much higher temperatures.
