Following the dispute over the Ballon d'Or winner, Manchester City fans mocked Real Madrid's star striker Vinicius Junior. Ahead of the Champions League clash between the two clubs, the English champions' supporters displayed a large banner showing Rodri kissing the Ballon d'Or. Next to it was written in large letters: "Stop crying your heart out".
Manchester City's Rodri, who is currently injured, won the Ballon d'Or last year - ahead of Vinicius Junior. This caused trouble for the Whites. Real Madrid therefore boycotted the ceremony in Paris. Real coach Carlo Ancelotti defended the decision on Monday. "We didn't want to take part because we thought Vinicius was the winner of the Ballon d'Or," said the coach. In the end, Vinicius Junior was allowed to cheer in the vote for world football.
Real laughs at the end
And on Tuesday evening, too, the Whites ended up celebrating. Real turned the game around in Manchester in the final minutes to win 3:2 and thus have the best chance of reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.
