Ten St. Gallen players come away empty-handed Marchesano shoots Yverdon to victory in stoppage time

FC St. Gallen remained without points in Yverdon and missed the chance to move closer to the top of the Super League after two recent victories with a 1-0 draw.

FC St. Gallen were too cautious on the offensive against the relegation candidates. Against Yverdon's compact defense, the eastern Swiss side's patient play was understandable, but after just under an hour it became a burden as the visitors suddenly found themselves down to ten men. Defender Jozo Stanic was shown the red card after an emergency brake in his own penalty area.

The fatal incident for St. Gallen came almost out of nowhere. Otherwise, dangerous situations were rare on both sides. Yverdon only became more dangerous when they were outnumbered and scored the winner through new signing Antonio Marchesano in the 92nd minute. The former FCZ player reacted quicker than the St. Gallen defense to a cross from Boris Cespedes from half field.
