Goal scorer Robert Lewandowski has continued to score goals this season. However, at the age of 37, the end of his time at Barcelona is on the horizon.

Goalscorer Robert Lewandowski is apparently calling it a day at Spanish champions FC Barcelona at the end of the season. As the newspaper "Sport" reports, the 37-year-old Pole's expiring contract will not be extended. The Catalans have already begun the search for a successor.

The seven-time Bundesliga top scorer has played for Barça since 2022 and has once again proven his goalscoring prowess this season with four goals in seven league games. However, his age and the fact that he cannot put opponents under pressure at the same pace as his teammates are said to be the reasons for a new direction for coach Hansi Flick's team.

The Cameroonian Etta Eyong from UD Levante is being touted as his successor and could compete with Ferran Torres for the place in the center of the attack. Argentinian world champion Julian Alvarez of Atlético Madrid has also been linked with Barça in the past, but with a market value of 100 million euros, he is said to be unaffordable for the financially troubled club.
