Video highlights Olmo and Lewandowski fire Barça to a late derby win against Espanyol

In the city duel between Espanyol and FC Barcelona, one player always takes center stage. Two former Bundesliga professionals secured a flattering victory late on.

FC Barcelona won the local derby at Espanyol thanks to late goals from Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski. The former Leipzig player and the former Bundesliga top scorer scored in the 87th and 90th minutes to secure a 2-0 victory.

Goalkeeper Joan Garcia had previously made several brilliant saves against his former club Espanyol. FC Barcelona now lead the table by seven points ahead of Real Madrid, who host Betis Sevilla on Sunday.

Flick replaces both goalscorers

Garcia joined the Spanish champions from Espanyol before this season and has replaced German international goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen as number one in former national coach Hansi Flick's team. Garcia showed his class in the 40th minute in particular, when he deflected a Pere Milla header over the crossbar from close range.

Garcia also reacted brilliantly in the second half. At the other end, Espanyol goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic made an outstanding save from Eric, who also failed to score from close range (72'). However, he was then powerless to stop substitute Dani Olmo's wonderful shot from 20 meters into the top corner. Lewandowski, who also came on as a substitute, even added the second goal.
