Patrick Rahmen almost made a perfect return as coach of FC Winterthur. The first win of the season was within reach for the bottom club. The 2:2 equalizer against Luzern came in the 91st minute.
It was a bitter end to what had long been a successful evening on the Schützenwiese. FCW played with a lot of heart to take a 2-0 lead in the first half, which they then defended quite confidently for a long time. They were unfortunate to concede two goals against Lucerne, who were anything but compelling, the first via a penalty, which Adrian Grbic confidently converted (65'), and the second in the 91st minute through an own goal by Souleymane Diaby after a confusing action that originated on the touchline, with the ball having probably remained just millimetres inside the area.
It was a bitter blow for Winterthur after a good performance, and not just in terms of fighting spirit. Winterthur were rewarded twice in the first half for their committed performance, with Andrin Hunziker playing the leading role on two occasions. In the 13th minute, the striker was in the right place after a corner kick to make it 1:0. Less than ten minutes later, he took the ball from Lucerne defender Adrian Bajrami and laid it off perfectly for Winterthur's second goalscorer Nishan Burkart.
Lucerne's reaction to the setback did not upset FCW for a long time in the pouring rain. Both goals came somewhat out of nowhere.
