Crazy final phase Servette overtakes YB again - Lucerne slips to 5th place

After YB, Servette also celebrated an important victory in the battle for second place. The Geneva side beat Luzern 4:3 away from home, scoring five goals in the final twenty minutes.

It was a crazy afternoon in Lucerne with no fewer than four penalties - two for each team. The first two went to Servette: Miroslav Stevanovic held his nerve in both the 4th and 26th minute to score his 12th and 13th goals of the season.

When Dereck Kutesa scored in the 73rd minute to make it 3:0 for the visitors from Geneva, the game seemed decided. But the Central Swiss side did indeed come back. Jakub Kadak and Adrian Grbic with a penalty gave Lucerne hope, who then threw everything forward. They were promptly rewarded: After a defensive error, Alioune Ndoye went off on his own to make it 4:2 and finally decide the game. Although FCL reduced the deficit again with a penalty in stoppage time, the referee blew the final whistle immediately afterwards.

It was Servette's third win in the fourth meeting of the season with Lucerne. Coach Thomas Häberli's team picked up a total of ten points against the Central Swiss side. The latest win was particularly important, as Servette now go into the final round in second place and can secure their place in the Champions League qualifiers on their own.
