FC Basel wins 3:1 against FCSB in the Europa League phase. Despite being outnumbered for around 80 minutes, victory at St. Jakob-Park hangs in the balance for a long time. The FCB players in the individual critique.

Clearly the best player in the FCB defense. Is repeatedly annoyed with the players in front of him because he has far too much to do - despite FCB playing in superior numbers from the 12th minute onwards. Makes several strong saves and plays a big part in this Basel victory. Hitz has no chance against Olaru's spectacular goal.

Nicolas Vouilloz

His passes are not always on target. In the 40th minute, he created a dangerous chance with an unnecessary misplaced pass. The decimated Romanians are waiting for just such chances. Vouilloz struggles to make an impact up front. He was substituted in the 76th minute.

Flavius Daniliuc

The coordination in central defense is not always right. Daniliuc and Barišić allow too many chances. However, the Austrian is strong on the ball. Only 4 of his 69 passes did not arrive, resulting in a pass rate of 94.2 percent.

Picked up a yellow card in the 8th minute, limiting himself in the process. But also has bad luck - he plays the ball first in the action. Shortly before the break he prevents a goal against with a strong tackle, but at 1:1 he is too easily outplayed by Olaru. He then had the chance to make it 2:1 in the 70th minute, but the ball wouldn't go in.

Shows a strong block in the penalty area shortly before the break - that could have been dangerous. He repeatedly tries to get involved up front and takes a shot in the 74th minute. The ball hits the post and then falls to Shaqiri, who slots home to make it 2:1. An incredibly important move.

With 106 ball actions, has the most of any player on the pitch. His passing rate is also outstanding (93 percent). However, Basel's midfield should have a much better grip on their decimated opponents.

Is energetic in his pressing and distributes the ball with overview. In the first half, he repeatedly got involved in the attack and could have made it 2-0 in the 44th minute, but was denied by FCSB goalkeeper Zima. Shortly afterwards he sees yellow. Replaced by Koindredi in the 62nd minute.

Is on the move a lot, but can only set a few accents. A wonderful pin pass to Shaqiri in stoppage time of the first half will be remembered. In the 76th Traoré is replaced by Salah.

The Basel superstar almost single-handedly scored his colors to victory. Where to start? Top pass to Broschinski, who then picks up the red card. Gets the penalty out with the subsequent free kick - and sinks it with a stinking Panenka. After numerous other chances, he shows a good nose for the 2:1, so that after Cissé hits the post, he is in the right place and just has to push it in - without looking, notabene. Finally, he also set up Salah's 3:1. What a performance.

Steals the ball just outside the penalty area in the 46th minute and runs alone towards the FCSB goal, but puts the ball too far forward and loses it. There would have been a few more Basel players in the penalty area to play to. The scene describes his rather unfortunate performance pretty well. It was over in the 62nd minute.

Pokes the ball past FCSB goalkeeper Tarnovanu in the opening phase and earns a red card. A decisive scene, as it also led to Basel's opening goal. After that, Broschinski dives a little. In the 54th minute, he is dangerously played on again by Shaqiri, but is unable to get past his opponent. Finishes in the 87th minute.
