Simon Sohm has a new coach at Parma. The 44-year-old Romanian Cristian Chivu succeeds the sacked Fabio Pecchia at the Serie A 18th-placed club.

Chivu worked for Inter Milan's youth team until last summer. The job at Parma is his first in professional football. During his playing days, the 75-time Romanian international defender played for Inter and AS Roma, among others, for eleven years.
Under the 51-year-old Pecchia, Parma managed to return to Serie A last season. The team has been without a win since the turn of the year and has been in a relegation spot since the beginning of February. Sohm was one of the undisputed regulars this season. The Swiss international usually played in central midfield.
