Bundesliga Simons scores twice - Leipzig scrape to victory at Wolfsburg

RB Leipzig kick off the 29th Bundesliga matchday with a 3-2 away win at VfL Wolfsburg to move ahead in the race for the Champions League places.

RB Leipzig climbed to fourth place in the Bundesliga, at least for one night, thanks to an away win at VfL Wolfsburg. The Leipzig side won 3:2 (2:0) to displace FSV Mainz 05, who can overtake the Saxons again with a win at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Loïs Openda gave RB an early lead (11th minute) in front of 23,070 spectators in Wolfsburg. Xavi Simons followed up with two goals from distance (26th/49th). VfL came back again with goals from Kilian Fischer (58') and Andreas Skov Olsen (75'). But that was as good as it got for the Lower Saxony side, who conceded their fourth league defeat in a row.
