The German championship could soon be decided in FC Bayern's favor. Uli Hoeness would like to see one player in particular win the title.
Uli Hoeness would be particularly happy for Harry Kane if FC Bayern Munich were to win their 34th German championship title. "If we win the championship, nobody deserves it more than him," said the honorary president of the German record champions about the star striker on TV channel Sky. For Kane, who moved to Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, it would be the first major title of his career.
With the 31-year-old England international, he has the feeling "that he has become a real FC Bayern player. He fights, he works, he scores an incredible number of goals, but he also works for the team and you can feel that he really wants to win this title," praised Hoeness.
He had no doubts about winning the title, the 73-year-old explained, "because we have it in our own hands. And as long as that is the case, I never have any worries." Four matchdays before the end of the season, Munich lead the table by eight points from defending champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Hoeness' delight at the friends of St. Pauli
The Rhinelanders dropped important points last matchday with a 1-1 draw at FC St. Pauli - much to the delight of Hoeness, who is a member of the Hamburg club. The whole family had kept their fingers crossed for the Kiezkickers at his home on Lake Tegernsee, said the Munich man of action.
"And that helped, because I think it was a very important pinprick for Bayer Leverkusen that they didn't win this game," said Hoeness. "Because you could see that they were really down after the game. And that's why I think we're in a good situation now."
