- FC Winterthur loses the groundbreaking basement duel against Yverdon 1-2.
- A snotty Luca Zuffi chipped FCW to the equalizer. From the 66th minute onwards, Winterthur were outnumbered.
- The decisive goal was scored virtually at the final whistle. Moussa Baradji flicks the ball wonderfully into the goal deep into stoppage time.
Last season, FC Winterthur was the surprise guest in the championship round. A year later, the relegation round is already a foregone conclusion six matchdays before the break. It had been clear to Winterthur for some time that it would not be enough for the top 6. Now eight points behind Yverdon, however, the situation in the relegation battle has become even more precarious.
The defeat could have been avoided. Two actions weighed heavily. The first, a ball loss in the forward movement, led to a counterattack by Yverdon in the 36th minute and the 0:1 from Marley Aké. The second, a foul by Tobias Schättin on Anthony Sauthier, was followed by a red card and almost half an hour of being outnumbered. In the 96th minute, Moussa Baradji scored with a long-range shot to make it 2:1 for Yverdon.
Man of the Match
Moussa Baradji: "In the very last second of this relegation thriller, he takes heart, flicks the ball into the net and decides this 6-point game in favor of Yverdon-Sport. He transformed the Stade Municipal into a madhouse and turned the bottom of the table upside down." (Joel Di Ronco, commentator blue Sport)
