The Swede Rikard Franzén (58) signs a four-year contract as assistant coach of the senior national team and the U20 national team. This was announced by the ice hockey association.
Rikard Franzén has assisted the Swiss national team for two seasons. He has now been given a full-time position by the association until 2030. He will assist head coach Luca Cereda's U20 team until January.
Franzén has been coaching in Switzerland since 2014, where he also played two seasons for SC Bern during his active career. In Switzerland, Franzén worked as a coach and assistant at Lausanne (2014 to 2018), Langnau (2018 to 2021, one season as head coach) and Geneva. At Servette, he already worked as an assistant with national team coach Jan Cadieux (championship title in 2023 and Champions League winner in 2024).
In the current season, Franzén won the championship title with Fribourg-Gottéron as Roger Rönnberg's right-hand man in addition to his job as national team assistant.
