Noè Ponti secures his fourth gold medal at the Swiss Championships in Sursee. Roman Mityukov achieves the "backstroke triple".
Noè Ponti has successfully completed the Swiss Championships in the large pool. The swimmer from Ticino won gold in the 50 m crawl in the Sursee campus pool on Sunday, setting a personal record of 22.61 seconds. He beat his best time set in Dubai in mid-February by two hundredths.
This was Ponti's fourth gold medal at this year's national championships after winning the 50 m dolphin, 100 m crawl and 100 m dolphin.
Roman Mityukov, the other star of Swiss swimming, completed the backstroke triple in Sursee. The bronze medal winner at the 2024 Olympic Games triumphed in the 100 m on Sunday, having already won gold in the 50 m on Friday and his favorite distance, the 200 m, on Saturday. The Geneva native swam the 100 m backstroke in 53.96 seconds, just 0.64 seconds off his Swiss record.
