The organizers announced on Monday that the 16th stage will take place entirely on Ticino soil. The start will be in Bellinzona and the finish in Cari at an altitude of 1644 meters. The ski resort in northern Ticino hosted stages of the Tour de Suisse in 2016 and 2024.

In total, the 108th edition of the Giro d'Italia leads over 21 stages with a total length of 3459 kilometers and 49,150 meters of climbing. Seven stages end with mountain finishes. The "roof" is formed by the Passo Giau with an altitude of 2233 meters. The first three stages will be ridden in Bulgaria. This is the 16th time that the Tour of Italy has started abroad. The last stage traditionally ends in Rome.

From May 30th to June 7th, the women will compete in nine stages covering 1153.7 km and 12,500 meters in altitude. Marlen Reusser from Bern finished in 2nd place overall last year behind local rider Elisa Longo Borghini.
