The New Jersey Devils suffer their second defeat in a row in the NHL. Nico Hischier and Timo Meier score in the 3:4 loss against the Dallas Stars. Lian Bichsel makes his comeback for the home team.
After trailing 0:2 and 1:3, the Devils found their way back into the game and equalized the score five minutes before the end. However, Thomas Harley's goal five seconds before the final buzzer ensured that the visitors' comeback was not crowned with success.
The two Swiss players in the Devils' service had their sticks in all the goals. Meier scored in the middle of the middle third on the power play and later assisted on the equalizer. Captain Hischier was responsible for the lead-up to Meier's goal and scored to make it 2:3 in the meantime. With 49 scoring points, the Valais native now leads the Swiss statistics in the NHL, followed by his teammate Meier with 41 points.
While Jonas Siegenthaler was still missing with an injury for the Devils, Lian Bichsel made his comeback for the Stars after missing seven games due to a concussion.
Moser wins, Niederreiter loses - both without scoring
The Tampa Bay Lightning are back on track. Janis Moser's team swept the Columbus Blue Jackets off the ice 6-2, redeeming themselves for their loss to the Florida Panthers the night before. The Lightning had previously celebrated eight wins in a row. Moser remained without a goal on Wednesday night.
The same goes for Nino Niederreiter. The Grisons native has now gone seven games without a goal. The 32-year-old was also unable to score in the Winnipeg Jets' 3-2 defeat in New York. On the contrary: the forward was on the penalty bench when the Islanders scored the opening goal. It was the third defeat in a row for the Jets, who are still top of the West.
The Nashville Predators celebrated a respectable success. Without injured Swiss captain Roman Josi, they landed their first away win since the end of January with a 6-3 victory in Boston.
