French champion Dorian Godon has won the shortened 7th stage of Paris-Nice. The rider from the Ineos Grenadiers team prevailed in the sprint after only around 47 kilometers.
Godon left the Eritrean Biniam Girmay and the Dutchman Cees Bol just behind him. Swiss rider Johan Jacobs also crossed the finish line with the first group of riders.
The stage only lasted around an hour. Originally, the stage should have ended in Auron at an altitude of 1600 meters. However, due to snowfall, the organizers cancelled this arrival from the programme on Friday.
The route was reduced again on Saturday morning. Heavy rain in the Nice area made the first part of the planned route too dangerous, especially the descents.
Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard remains clearly in the lead in the overall standings ahead of the final stage to Nice. The two-time Tour de France winner is 3:22 minutes ahead of the Colombian Daniel Felipe Martinez.
