Gregor Deschwanden broke the 200 m barrier twice. In the first round he finished fifth with 208.5 meters. In the second round, with which he was no longer perfectly satisfied, the Einsiedler landed at 202 m.

With seventh place, Deschwanden equaled his best career results in ski flying. He also took two seventh places a year ago in Vikersund and three years ago in Planica.

With Sandro Hauswirth (22nd) and Simon Ammann (27th), two other Swiss athletes qualified for the final round. Neither of them managed a jump at 200 m and landed between the 190 and 200 m mark in both rounds.

Victory in the first ski flying event on the Kulm near Tauplitz went to the season's dominator and world champion Domen Prevc from Slovenia. Prevc took nine or more meters from the entire competition in the final round. Prevc won ahead of four Austrians, with Austrian Jonas Schuster making it onto the World Cup podium for the first time on his debut on a flying hill.
