Gremaud in the slopestyle final, Höfflin out in qualification

The 25-year-old Olympic champion came through the qualification on Wednesday with the third-best score. Sarah Höfflin was eliminated.

Gremaud, who suffered an unspecified injury in February and has only been able to train normally again for a few days, crashed in the first run, but her 70.92 points in the second were certainly enough. Only the 17-year-old Italian Sara Tabanelli and the Canadian Megan Oldham were better.

After two unsuccessful runs, Höfflin, in 16th place, was around 2.5 points off the top 12. She made the decisive mistake on the last rail. Anouk Andraska, the third registered Swiss athlete, did not take part in the competition after a training crash.

Gremaud had expressed slight doubts about her form on Monday. "I will definitely be at the start. The question is what level I'm at," explained the Fribourg native. The final of the best 12 women will take place on Saturday (10.00 am).
