Kaden Groves sprints to his third stage win of this Tour of Spain in Santander. After 141.5 km of the 17th stage, the Australian rider confidently took the win ahead of Czech rider Pavel Bittner.
It was the sixth stage win at the Vuelta for Groves, who had already won in Villablino (stage 14) and Ourem (stage 2). The 25-year-old had also triumphed three times in 2023. The best Swiss rider was Mauro Schmid in 11th place. The Zurich native had energetically broken away from the field three kilometers before the finish, but was overtaken by Groves and Co. just 100 meters before the finish line.
There were no changes at the top of the overall classification. Australian Ben O'Connor is still in the lead, five seconds ahead of the Slovenian Primoz Roglic. Third is the Spaniard Enric Mas (1:25 minutes back).
