The Swiss snowboarders opened the winter sports day in Canada very successfully on Sunday night.
The Swiss snowboarders jumped spectacularly and successfully in the halfpipe in Canada. At the World Cup, David Hablützel was only beaten by Australian Valentino Guseli. Pat Burgener, who is now competing for Brazil, also climbed onto the podium in third place, with Jonas Hasler, another Swiss, coming fourth. The usually dominant Japanese were beaten for once. A woman from Zurich also made it onto the podium in the women's event. Isabelle Lötscher finished third behind Canada's Elizabeth Hosking and China's Wu Shaotong.
Hasler fifth, Annen seventh
Bobsleigh - Melanie Hasler with Nadja Pasternack and Debora Annen and Mara Morell put in a strong performance in the two-man bobsleigh World Cup in Winterberg, finishing fifth and seventh respectively. Annen, the daughter of former World Champion Martin, missed out on the second half of the Olympic qualification by just nine hundredths, but with these performances she should soon have her second ticket behind Hasler for sure. At the top, the German women returned as expected to a triple victory on their home track after a failure in Sigulda.
Follador strong sixth
Bobsleigh - Cédric Follador achieved his best result of the season so far in the four-man bobsleigh in Winterberg with 6th place. The 31-year-old from Graubünden was just four hundredths of a second behind the Austrian Markus Treichl, who finished ahead of him. In contrast, the competition was disappointing for Michael Vogt, who had to settle for 15th place. Three German teams finished at the top: Francesco Friedrich won by a wafer-thin margin ahead of Johannes Lochner and Adam Ammour. Next week, the home races in St. Moritz-Celerina are on the program for the Swiss.
