Ville Peltonen is the new coach of HC Ajoie. The Finn, who most recently coached Genève-Servette, has signed with the Jura club until the spring of 2028, as the club announced.

After several months as a successful interim coach at Genève-Servette, Peltonen is now returning to the National League after all. The 53-year-old replaced the sacked Frenchman Yorick Treille at the Servettiens in October. The Finn managed to stabilize Genève-Servette again and lead them to the playoff semi-finals. Only the eventual champions Fribourg-Gottéron stopped the team. Despite this, Peltonen did not receive a new contract with Genève-Servette. The club had already announced the signing of the Swede Sam Hallam for the 2026/27 season in October.

Peltonen is now allowed to work in Ajoie. He takes over from Greg Ireland, who had to leave the club at the end of March and was replaced on an interim basis by sports director Julien Vauclair. Ajoie was clearly the weakest team in the National League last season. However, the Jura team was spared the barrage against relegation as Sierre, the Swiss League champions, did not meet the promotion criteria.
