After two defeats each, they will have to win their third group match on Friday if they are to make it through to the round of 16.

The Swiss women are enjoying more success in the Bernese Oberland at the Elite 16 tournament, the highest category in the professional squad. Esmée Böbner/Zoé Vergé-Dépré, who qualified for the games in Paris, got off to a flying start with two victories over two Brazilian duos. Another win on Friday against qualifiers from Spain would see them top the group and thus progress to the quarter-finals - only the second and third-placed players in the group will play in the round of 16, with the fourth-placed players being eliminated.

Anouk Vergé-Dépré/Joana Mäder - who will miss the Olympic Games - are already in the round of 16 after a win and a three-set defeat.
