The New Jersey Devils cemented their place in the playoffs with a 5-3 away win at the Chicago Blackhawks. Their Swiss captain Nico Hischier scored for the fourth game in a row, assisting on the 2-0 goal and the empty netter in the 5-3 win. The 2-0 goal came out of a confusing scramble in which Timo Meier was also active. However, the goal was awarded to Dawson Mercer.

The Devils had previously lost three in a row, now they have a relatively comfortable nine-point lead over the line again, Philipp Kuraschew's Chicago Blackhawks have had no chance of making the playoffs for some time.

The Vancouver Canucks, on the other hand, are getting closer again. Thanks to a 5-2 win at the New York Islanders, the Canucks moved back to within three points of eighth-placed St. Louis in the West - with one game less. Swiss forward Pius Suter scored twice for the second game in a row, this time with assists in the 3-2 and 5-2 wins.
